My take :

FUNNY .. FUNNY…. FUNNY. This is the word that has striken me when I began reading  the book . From the beginning to the end there is fun-filled situations, and conversations. As the blurb says it is a story of Mickesh Roy. It starts  from the date of joining the NTL  till the date of his first increment .

The book covers his  experiences  in the office . His interactions with his colleagues and his pranks make the reading interesting and amusing . He loves Gauri from the time she meets her when both of them entered in to  office  first time as new entrants in the same company.

Michesh Roy tries his level best to woo Gauri and wants to win her as her lover. He spends a lot of time as well as money  for this.

Whether his  efforts and endeavors are successful or not  ?

At the time of announcing the increment what has befallen to him ?

What is the decision of Gauri  about her life and life partner ?

You have to read the book to get the answers .

First of all I like the title "On the moon between the stars" as it gives  a celestial touch . Cover design by  Divyam Kaushik  is nice.  The plot is thin and the subplots are supportive to run the story. The characters are realistic as most of them youngsters, intelligent and well placed in the IT world.

Mickesh Roy is charming and charismatic. He has got the ability of planning  to achieve his goals minor and major.  He and his friends indulge in  vices like smoking and  boozing. They make mistakes.

Manvendra Kumar's language is superb .The narrative is interesting.  He has written simple things in a compelling manner. His story is inspirational to the youngsters as it holds a good message .

Readers would like the book for the beautiful story of professionals working in IT and other sectors .There is no suspense or surprise but there is all the jovial and happy moments to entertain us. Also there may not be twists and turns but there is enough incidents to make the reading a pleasant experience .

My verdict :

Manvedra Kumar is capable of telling the story in an interesting way . He could make the most of  the trying circumstance comical . Overall I love the book for the fantastic storyline and the romantic aspect of the main character.. Readers would also like this book for the mirthful dialogues and believable scenes. It is a great entertainment to all .

My score :  4/5

Blessed by Adi Gurus, Spiritual Guides and Masters (who visited him out of their body form), Kapil has a deep understanding of the human psyche and has divine clarity on both esoteric and non-esoteric issues. Having received divine guidance, his knowledge and understanding of spiritual matters goes beyond books and comes from anubhuti... experience.
In his own words, the experiences he underwent in this sojourn shaped him to become what he is today. His knowledge does not come from books but from experiences.

As he often says, “You have not got birth here, neither you will get death... The only thing you will get here is Experience...”

General :

Miracles happen. It is possible to   Gurus of Hinduism  ,who perform them after achieving lots of mental  powers  by reciting mantra several times  and worshiping Gods. They practice celibacy and mind control   ,make so many sacrifices and learn a lot. They are famous, rich and powerful . People throng for their blessings and seek their guidelines for solving their problems .

Reminiscences of a Seeker dark face of the White World (True Story)  is the first book I have got on the Dark Arts . Usually I get books on romance, fantasy and others. This book is an exceptional one. With  curiosity I have flipped through  the book . I like the book for all the raw truths and  poignant secrets it tells about the realm of Spiritual Masters.

Mysteries and surprises, spine chilling engulf me  when I   read the book. There is a lot of horrible twists and terrific turns beyond my imagination and knowledge. The book is a detailed account of the Author talks about his experience with his Masters i.e  sages , Spritual Leaders  clairvoyants ,experts in Tantric skills and ascetic sadhus called Aghoris

The book chronicles the personal experiences of the author with the paranormal world . This book takes you to the mysterious planes telling about the spiritual pursuits of the author for
Spiritual knowledge and ancient techniques The book talks about religious ascetics  who are holy persons  in Hinduism  and excel in  art  of sorcery using magic or supernatural powers and  esoteric tantra.

The Plot :

The story starts with the author telling about his search for a Guru to guide him in spiritual matters . He meets in dreams several Masters Like Shridi Sai Baba, Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti   He gets the guidance of SWAMI RAMANAND SARASWATI  .His search for Ultimate Divine leads him to a Tantric Guru  who  becomes his Master. His name is Maharaj Trilokenath..He begins to be his disciple to learn  all about siddhi and other rituluals .  The Master tells about the necessary of practicing them on certain astrological dates . He has attained perfect Sadhana .

The author goes on to explain about his encounters with the Master and he encounters many ordeals. . His Master teaches him about capturing ghosts. He stresses the importance of Bhoot Siddhi one of the most basic powerful siddhi . He practices in the cremation ground in the midnight. In this journey he gains control over paranormal occurrences.  He takes many tours visiting holy places with Tantric Master .  In course of time he becomes so famous and the most sought after Disciple   the Master  is jealous of him .
What is the reaction of the Master?
How the reader comes to know about the Master's evil mind?
What is the decision he takes to protect himself  ?
How  does he choose an Aghori as his second Master?
For answer to all these questions  we have to read the book.

The Pro :

I like the title as it gives what the book  talks about. I also  like the cover  as it denotes the light of moon in the dark sky . There are 9 Chapters with captions all related to the Spiritual world .  To cite  examples I can quote the following
1. Divine desire fulfilled
2 My journey to My Guru's abode.
3. My Heart Opens to True Living Masters.

The book covers all facets of the Spiritual World. It includes the  relationship between Master and Disciple, jealousy and betrayal of Masters   , blind trust of disciples, Hero worship by innocent and ignorant people, the rituals unheard of in the real world,  mysterious feats of the  Masters , the interaction with ghosts and sprits , capturing souls to manipulate for their wrong ends .

He Performs rituals and reciting mantra in the cremation ground   at the midnight and the only companion is darkness. He excels in capturing souls and talking with ghosts . He has given all these details  in a nice manner.

Kapil Kumar Bhaskar the Author has penned this book in a simple language to be understood by any layman albeit the core subject of the book being the Spiritual journey  and the events are fresh and new to all.

He has depicted all the happenings in a chronological order with the highest degree of coherence  so that we get a first hand information   .The narrative prose is gripping .
Glossary of Terms used is useful .

In the ending , not only the Author gets enlightenment but also it is a good message to all of us.

My favorite :

The episode involving Maya, daughter of Asurnath  the second Master of the Author ,has melted my heart.  She is so thoughtful enough to caution the Author . Asurnath is so greedy and evil minded he arranges "elimination "of Maya. How reckless and mean are these Self made Masters who lack humility and compassion and possess all the powers to attract people. There are so many black sheep to bring bad name to genuine persons.

Also I like the following words of wisdom
All knowledge and powers rather everything is given by him to all of us ,but these are not to be displayed (show off ) or misused , rather be used for the well being of ourselves and others. We should always be thankful to Him for His kindness. We are all children of one God and the only thing which separates us is our  ego. Ego is like a mad elephant which is ridden by our blind heart and blind mind and which ultimately destroys our real selves.

Anger , harsh words and criticism damage your aura , your energy field ....it causes holes to appear in your energy field and leaves you vulnerable .

Tantra is all about manipulating energies and laws , to manifest things at physical or spiritual reality which are not manifesting naturally or through karma.

Most of the time our inner voice tries to guide us to the 'Truth'but we , out of  our own vested interests , wish to continue living in our own self-centered illusions because it suits our purpose or fulfills our needs

As Lord Krishna who said one who outwardly  controls external senses and still mentally dwells upon the objects of senses is said to be hypocritical

My verdict :

Kapil Kumar Bhaskar has written the book with a passion . In many places he tells the truth about the activities of Masters and it serves as a good message to all not to believe all they tell . He makes the book as a perfect guide for all seekers with the use of incidents taken place in his life. He has told the story in an authoritative and authenticated way  as his rich knowledge and wide experience have  helped him in this aspect.

His inexhaustible  zeal in the spiritual matters  gives the readers all the interest to read the book. For all it may not be a good read but those who are seekers of Supreme Master i.e God  definitely  give an awesome  read.
                                  .

My score : 5/5

Blurb of the book

I am Prachur, a twenty-three year old guy from Shimla, and I want to tell you my story. I don’t claim that my life is particularly worth reading, especially the first twentyone years. But things did become interesting by the time I came to finish my degree in engineering. At the time I was like every other guy of my age — pretentious and clueless about my future. I loathed the very idea of a mundane job. I felt that my lack of clarity about my future was my biggest problem. Imagine what I felt when I found out that Neera, my girlfriend, was pregnant! Quarter life Crisis is the story of my coming of age and my quest for happiness.

About the Author

Anshuk is a twenty-six year old aspiring author with a postgraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia, Spain. Inspired by the works of Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, George Eliot, George Orwell and Seneca, he hopes to find his place in the world of literature as a professional writer.

General

The book deals with social issues and the family drama it portrays has got a  powerful message. It deals with the  Social stigma arising out of peculiar situations  in our life.

The title is apt and it revolves around  the life of  youngsters at the age  of 21- 25  It touches the transition period  when both girls and boys want to settle in their life.

The Plot

The protagonist Prachur is studying in a college where his girl friend Neera also studies. The story happens in Simla. When the story starts he and his friends make their life simple and happy by their fun filled activities. They indulge in all sort of vices and once the warden has caught them in an inebriated status. He finds them going  to the first year students' hostel and find them guilty of ragging .

Our hero is not studious but  carefree and always fun loving . Neera is his childhood friend . They are thick buddies from the beginning. Their friendliness  has developed into a love affair. Everyone knows it. Due to their age and youthfulness they are not afraid of anything and they lead their life in its own strides.

In the meantime Neera gets conceived  . She is carrying his child  .Now they meet such a dramatic social situation they have to face the wrath of their parents. Neera is so particular about having the child when Prachur and others suggest for abortion.

At this juncture what is the decision they take ?How it affects their life afterwards? What is the reaction of Neera's parents? What happens to the unborn child ?You have to read the book to get the answers

The Pro

It is highly appreciative on the part of the Author Anshuk Attri for having dealt with the social . problems faced by the present younger generation .Due to mingling of both boys and girls so many issues like sex out of wedlock ,license for Parenthood crop up . Unless or otherwise they act responsibly they have to meet inevitable and awkward situations as the hero of the novel faces in his life. He makes us to debate about sex education and the institution of marriage. He has handled the subject in a prudent manner . He knows the pulse of the present younger generation.

I like the way the story goes on  as though it is happening by  our next door within our neighborhood  The thrill  and tension it creates ,I could feel . It is heart rendering to see the emotions and sentiments in their true colour. It is fit to be a film's script.

There are minimum characters and all are realistic. Both Prachur and Neera are ambitious . Neere wants to be an IAS officer and Prachur wants to become a great author. Prachur's sister Illena is an intelligent girl with a lot of maturity and wisdom.

There is a main plot connected with many a subplot  believable and unpredictable.
Both concept and its execution are good.

My verdict

Anshuk has well written , with due entertainment and fast paced narration. It makes  it an excellent and captivating read for all contemporary  fiction lovers .His fascination for social drama reflects in the whole book  in the form of many sad and happy events in the life of MCs.

Readers would find the book engrossing as the fast paced storyline  takes you to the realm of youngsters . You can buy the book to enjoy a light read on a  good message and recommend it to your friends also .It is an eye-opener for both youngsters and elders as it touches our  social fabric in a nice way.
The cover design is superb

About the Author

Jain Acharya Param Pujya Bhuvanbhanu Surishwarji Maharaj

A clairvoyant , academic genius, profound thinker, skilful orator, vesrsatile, writer, incredible mentor of approximately 250 disciples, great sage, and above all ,humble devotee of Lord Mahavira and his religious order.

General :

When I have received the book , the title seems to be odd to me and I understand it is a guide for living our life  soul-centric .The cover makes me awestruck as it resembles a tree ,on one side human face made of branches  and another  side the greenery leaves  . It coaxes me to intrigue the mystery of combining two different aspects in one physical form .On reading it I get the point that the cover represents our  just opposite mental attitudes. Its design attracts me and I hope the book will be a wonderful  read for me .  This spiritual  book has taken me to the next  level of enlightenment  and clarified me on many a facet of life.

When I finished reading the Publisher's note I have decided to read the book again and again to grasp the real meanings and messages the author wants to convey .The book elaborately discusses about our attitude, our nature of dealing different circumstances and various situations  in our  own way so as to make our life meaningful .

As a reader you can relate to the book as it opens your eyes on the core subject of your social life.It gives  practical tips to control our mind and lead a pious and virtuous life. .This book exclusively serves the purpose of taking you a smooth navigation of your life with all the peace of mind and tranquility and face the trials and tribulations in a calm manner.

Social and historical context

The book carries 20 chapters with suitable captions apart from the subtitles for every stanza .  The book starts with the introduction of Amichand. His story revolves around incidents to explain about the Amis -an extremely sweet liquid which is relieving and refreshing .  The author calls all the positivity and virtues as  Amis .  There are totally 13 Amis. The book gives  the story ,the principles relate to the respective situation , and a synopsis at the end of all the 19 chapters.

The tale of Amichand

I don't want to go deep in to the story but give a sketch of it so that readers would understand the relevance  of the same

Amichand was the son of a wealthy merchant  and his father passed away soon after his marriage . He takes care of his younger brother and he and his wife are fond of him. When his mother died Amiichand promised to take care of his younger brother Vinu. Vinu marries Tara . Tara happens to be a city based girl manipulates Vinu by her nagging and complaining A stage has arrived they have to break the relationship with his brother and his wife. So goes the story and in between the author is giving justifications and pinpoint where they go wrong or right.

The book talks about 13 Ami like Gratitude, Courtesy, Treating others as one would treat himself or herself. The desire to do things for others . Each and every ami is discussed briefly . There is also questions -answers sessions here and there to clear the doubts .The book ends with Amichnad's Divine Discourse .

The book discusses about the Nectarous and Poisonous  Attitudes and their effect. It covers Karma and the consequences of the same.

Both virtues and vices are discussed .

The Pro

The story fits well and it gives a clear picture as to how much we haVe to follow the moral values and  ethical principles at the given situation  The interesting narrative makes the reading an enjoyable read. The language is simple but have a  literary flavor.

Acharya Bhuvanbhanu Suri's wiring style is superb .He is  well versed in Jain Scriptures . He has made all the  efforts to present a fantastic prose with rhyme and rhythm.  Asking "What poisons' Life?" in the first chapter he goes on to motivate us with heart -rending  sermons .He has touched all the crucial topics related to life like Human nature to the Essence of life.

From scriptures, words of wisdom are given in Hindi, Gujarti and English. The meaning for the Hindi words is given in the footnote on the same page .  It makes our  reading.easy.

My favorite

In the story I  like the Ruler. When he makes an investigation about the theft of necklace and he is not quick to go by the advice of his wife. He wants to make a proper analysis like this necklace episode as it takes us to realistic how foolishly we are attaching ourself to material things and suffer.

I also like the following pearls of wisdom from the book.

One needs to convince his mind that he does not want a particular thing under ant circumstance. Then his mind will automatically feel the guilt dislike discomfort and hatred for that thing.

If we were to perceive things from a neutral point of iew the world would be beautiful and very different.

Material pleasure can give yo speed but true well-being lies in spritual progress only.

Wealth may be instrumental in giving you happiness but it i not happiness itself. Real happiness lies in giving  and not gathering

My verdict

I adore this book as a gem of wisdoms guiding me to have a smooth sail amidst of storms and turmoils.  The author with his rich knowledge in the realm of Jainism and his involvement in propagating the virtues from the Jain's scriptures has penned this book with a lot of care and thoughtfulness . Readers  would benefit from this book by way of change in their perspective towards life ,realizing the very purpose of their life and necessity of living a  life of virtues .It will boost your  quality of life and take you to higher level.

Buy the book to have a great  change in your life  with more hope and peace of mind.

BLURB OF THE BOOK

The curtains draw up. Lights are dimmed. The musical is about to begin. As the beautiful princess descends on stage, the mythical creatures from her kingdom come alive. Flickers of brilliant colours

blaze across as mesmerizing music pulsates from one corner of the theatre to the other. A fairy tale is about to unfold…

As young children, we often come across things that stay in our hearts forever. For Appu, it is a fairy tale about a beautiful princess. He lives with her in a world filled with the magical creatures from her kingdom until the real world beckons. A reluctant Appu steps into it as a striking young man and struggles to find his place.

What follows is an evocative tale of love and loss, friendship and betrayal, as the story travels through the snow-peaked mountains of Arunachal to the golden deserts of Jaisalmer, the tulip gardens of

Holland to the lush greens of Kerala. Does Appu find what he had set out for? The answer lies in Rafflesia — The Banished Princess because in her story, lay his!

General :

The title "Raffesia The Banished Princess " makes me to believe that it to be a fairy tale. After studying the Prologue and go through the pages I find out it is a fantastic family saga running a period of four decades. It is my favorite genre. The story is so engrossing. It is lengthy and dense but it leads me to a heartwarming read about life , family bonding , friendship, pain and death. It is not only humorous at times but also intriguing.I want to read  at a small but steady pace to fathom the unostentatious story  .It is all about the social interactions and happenings in the life of Appu  , the darling of everybody.

The Plot :

There are two books .Totally there are 31 chapters each having a caption to suit the content. It starts with a prologue and ends with an Epilogue. The story begins in the  the year 1982 when the protagonist Appu is   a small kid studying in a school and goes on till he reaches adulthood becoming an employee of Q&Zi, a leading Indian company engaged in information technology services. The story happens at Gauhati and then at Leeuwarden .in Netherlands.  There are plethora of characters mostly Appu's friends and colleagues, parents and neighbours.

When the story begins  Appu  is  a child living with his  parents in Gauahati . His father Aabir and his mother Trina love him. He is their only hope. Hope for dignity . For Distinction . For acceptance  And perhaps a roof of their own someday  .Aabir has got a flair  to   play Violin and he is working for a concern for a meager salary.

Aabir has got a friend ,Air Marshall   Vikram  Mehta and his son Rahul becomes  Appu's closest buddy. The friendship with Vikram is so sweet and affectionate. All of a sudden Vikram's wife Amala who is suffering from depression  takes a lot of sleeping pills and expires leaving Vikram and Rahul devastated. At that juncture Aabir and Trina give moral support.

After   clearing  his school education with flying colours and joins college to pursue graduation in commerce. He comes as a topper in the university examination and after trying small jobs , he joins a Dutch company as a translator. He goes to Leeuwarden on a  work assignment  . He meets Jeet  working at De Groet Bank.He  and his  wife Sujata are very fond of Appu and she treats  him as her son.

Friendship has to stand the test of time. When the contact between Vikram and Aabir slows down , the same of  Appu with  Rahul thickens. They are charismatic and charming  and their friendship adds credibility to the story.Likewise life is not fair to Rahul. His wife Mohna expires suddenly and he slips into depression and tries to kill himself.

Appu's, co worker Misha has got her own story. Her parents have chosen a bridegroom Aariyan and when he goes abroad he marries another girl. Misha has to bear the brunt of fate .

Jeet and  Sujata  make a good made -for- each - other couple  , but they remain issueless for seven years.

Rosemary is the daughter of Mr Dennis Fairburn  who gets married to Robert dowson .He leaves her after five years .Later she takes a job at a Government department . She has got transferred to Leeuwarden. Her father wants her to remarry. Whether she agrees for it or not?

Amidst all of these , Appu has to face a crisis in the form of divorce notice from his better half . What is the reason for such a sickening situation? What is the decision he takes ? What is the story of RAFLESSIA ?.As per the blurb if the  answer lies for Appu what he sets for what it means? For these questions you have to read the book.

The Pro :

After a long time I am coming across a novel full of incidents and occasions of  kindness , love and affection in the background of family atmosphere .

The protagonist Appu has got a great charm and wise character . Appu has got all the qualities of his mother,Trina. Even though her husband Aabir earns a meager salary she manages so well with lot of patience and hardwork. She is wealthy. In a different way. In kind. From her Appu learns humility and empathy. He is comfortable with everyone and ladies are ready to confide and pour out their thoughts to him freely. He has got a great affection  for pets from his childhood days . His exemplary way of treating the cat, Ivy is an example for his kindness .

I like Rahul who stands with Appu through thick and thin. All the characters are good barring a few like Sujit Sundar Rakshit who are bad in their own way. There is a lot of banter and jolly moments.

The characters are real and we can relate to them .
I like the language  of Gautam  as it is poignant and touches my heart. This family drama carries all the nuances and  details to entertain us to  a great extent. The author uses words  in  Dutch to make the story realistic and enjoyable.

The story teller in Guatam has crafted a nice family tale making  it cheesy  social drama around the stories of married people. It is entertaining  with humour, suspense, and excitement. In fact there are not mind boggling turns and twists. The narration is fast paced .

My favorite :

I like  Bashir's father Aga Ali Sheikh who is the closest buddy of Appu. His words of wisdom would open our eyes.

It is not money that makes a person rich. It is love that makes a person rich.It is his honesty that makes him rich.

My verdict

I like the family drama as it contains all the suspense, humour , excitement and thrill . The story teller in Gautam has given a lot of attention and care to shape the characters and bring  out a blockbuster giving all the entertainment to the readers.Kudos to Gautam for having come with an outstanding novel .   The first part portrays the family bonding and  the second part speaks about the turmoils faced by married people.I recommend this book to all fiction lovers those who want to have a beautiful read.

My score : 5/5
